CNW unit |
Description: |
Most UP trains rolled over the BNSF Ft Scott Sub on the viaduct. For some reason, this coal train went through at ground level. The DPU was an ex CNW unit, still carrying enough of its CNW markings to give it away. |

Interesting combination |
Description: |
I stopped to get gas at the TA in Ontario, Cal, where, on my last visit 14 years prior, this line had been at grade level. Now it passes high overhead, which is a blessing for road traffic here. While I was filling up, this transfer came by, with a pair of SD 60s fronting a pair of gensets. Til this point, these were the only gensets I had seen. Too bad I was on the dark side. |

Doing it the hard way |
Description: |
The southbound train is about halfway across the bridge to Nuevo Laredo, stopped, the nose of the engine just inside Mexico. It is at this point that the US crew gets off, and the Mexican crew gets on. Each crew has to walk to or from its respective country to make the crew change. Seems like this is making something simple a lot more difficult than it needs to be. It would be a lot easier if they did what US and Canadian crews do, run the train into the new country, then taxi back. |

With apologies to James Taylor. The train now reaches the bright orange truss on the Mexican side, and will go through customs inspection before continuing to the interior. |
