MILW 4-6-0 #1055 - Milwaukee Road
Title:  MILW 4-6-0 #1055 - Milwaukee Road
Description:  Having been declared scrap in September of 1951, MILW #1055 is still waiting for the scrapper's torch to do its worst. It has already lost its bell, number board and headlight. This 4-6-0 was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in October of 1901 originally as CM&StP Vauclain compound ten wheeler #386 (serial #19554, class B4). The loco was renumbered many times during its service starting with June of 1907 to #1736 > in September of 1912 to #4336 > in July of 1916, the loco was simplified and renumbered #2886 > in November of 1920 to #2872 > and finally in June of 1938 to MILW #1055. After serving for 50 years, the loco was unceremoniously scrapped in September of 1951. The photo was taken by rail fan Guhr and is now in my rr collection.
