Title:
PRR 7186, EFS-17M, 1965
Description:
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown at the left (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7186 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EFS-17M road switchers built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7186 was constructed in November of 1957. They are pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight and are about to pass under the 12th Street Footbridge. Note the on-coming ore train and the two coal trains on the right. Also visible is the PRR's two-story Freight Station at the left and one of the 12th Street Car Shop's buildings at the right. (#17 of 44)

Description:
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here (F to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6011 and #6010. Both are EF-25A's built by GM-EMD in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They're pulling a westbound ore train that's about to pass under the 12th Street Footbridge on its way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to the tunnels at Gallitzin and the steel mills of Pittsburgh. Note the two coal trains at the left, the westbound freight train on the adjoining track, and a single passenger-helper locomotive a bit further over. Elements of the Footbridge occupy the foreground. (#19 of 44)
