PRR 2429, AF-25, 1965
Spruce Creek. Here is the second of eight successive photos that I took in Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania, on 10 July 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2429, #2544, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2429 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2544 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in February of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. In this context, they're passing over the State Route 45 tunnel with a fully-loaded iron ore train out of Enola that's heading to the steel mills of Pittsburgh.
