Number 4004 was built by Baldwin in December 1930 (c/n 61568) as Class S-4 number 3011. It was rebuilt by the CB&Q at West Burlington, Iowa, completed in November 1938, reclassed as S-4-A and renumbered 4004. It was sold for scrap in May 1955. |

CBQ 4-6-4 #4004 - Chicago, Burlington & Quincy |
| Description: |
This 4-6-4 Hudson started out as Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 4-6-4 #3011 built by Baldwin in November of 1930 (serial #61558, class S-4). The loco was rebuilt in 1938 by the CBQ's own West Burlington Shops to an S-4-A class and renumbered CBQ 4004. The rebuild was mostly cosmetic but it did receive Box-Pok drivers, running gear upgrades and roller bearings in the lightweight side rods. After 25 years of dedicated service, the loco was sold for scrap in May of 1955. Unfortunately, no date, location or photographer was listed for this photo so an approximate date and location were assigned. |
