Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, in November of 1960. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9542, #9550-B, and #9654. All are EF-15A's built by GM-EMD as EH-15's for helper service, rated at 1,500 horsepower each, but later regeared and reclassified as EF-15A's. #9542 was built in October of 1948 and retired in September of 1965. #9550-B was built in December of 1948 and retired in September of 1965. #9654 was built in February of 1950. They're parked (with engines off) at the locomotive servicing facility located on the wye connecting the east- and westbound legs of the mainline in Gallitzin. |
